THE PARACHUTE BALL

Short

Writer & Director: Peter Boothby

DOP: Franklin Dow

Editor: Dan Farrell

Composer: Steve Tait

Production Designer: Georgia Shelton

1st AD: Holly Gardener

Set over one night, follows two elderly ladies living on a farm in southern England, who are unexpectedly called to duty when they discover an unconscious German pilot hanging from his parachute in their tree. Before he can regain consciousness and escape, the ladies decide to take him captive, but when his co-pilot comes looking for him a battle of wits ensue.

This is a story inspired by many accounts of those who fought WWII from the home front. 'Many of the tales I grew up with as a child where of my father's childhood evacuation when war broke out. He was four years old and sent to live with a new family who had never had kids -- entirely on his own,' Peter Boothby recalls.

It was shot at a location down the road from Shepperton studios, the directors house -- and the whole ground floor was gutted right down to the light switches to provide the starting point to an authentic 1940's farm house set.
